BEHIND THE SCENES
A lot of hard work goes into Hawaii's Junior Miss program, not all of which is visible when that lucky high school senior is selected Hawaii's Junior Miss.
Throughout the year, a dedicated group of community citizens, including several former Junior Miss contestants and winners, is hard at work planning the competition that will send Hawaii's representative to the America's Junior Miss program in Mobile, Alabama.
Volunteers are needed to recruit and screen contestants from the state's high schools, work on program production and development, obtain financial support from businesses and individuals, select and brief eligible judges, promote the sale of tickets, set up special events such as luncheons, public appearances, interview training and a myriad of other activities.
The program is put together by volunteers who realize that Hawaii's future lies in its young adults, and who want each contestant's experience in the program to be a milestone in her life. Volunteers also support each year's winner through her participation in the national competition.
Publicity is sought to promote the program and a souvenir program book is produced.
Mahalo to all our volunteers!
